John is a Senior Principal and MKA’s Director of Earthquake Engineering, offering over 40 years of experience in renovation, structural analysis, and Performance-Based Seismic Design. A member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7 Steering Committee and Main Committee and Chair of the ASCE 7 Seismic Subcommittee, John is actively involved with the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, FEMA, and the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Research Center. John’s leadership has contributed to developing next-generation performance-based design methodologies and advancing code-prescriptive seismic design approaches.
